The Cunning Fox and the Clever Stork:

روباه حیله گر و لک لک باهوش:

Once upon a time, there lived a very cunning and mischievous fox. He used to speak to other animals sweetly and gain their trust, before playing tricks on them.

روزی روزگاری روباهی بسیار حیله گر و بدجنس زندگی می کرد. با حیوانات دیگر به شیرینی صحبت می‌کرد و اعتماد آنها را جلب می‌کرد، قبل از اینکه با آنها حیله‌بازی کند.

One day the fox met a stork. He befriended the stork and acted like a very good friend. Soon, he invited the stork to have a feast with him. The stork happily accepted the invitation.

یک روز روباه با یک لک لک برخورد کرد. او با لک لک دوست شد و مانند یک دوست بسیار خوب رفتار کرد. به زودی، او لک لک را دعوت کرد تا با او مهمانی بگیرد. لک لک با خوشحالی دعوت را پذیرفت.

The day of the feast came, and the stork went to the fox’s house. To her surprise and disappointment, the fox said that he could not make a big feast as promised, and just offered some soup. When he brought the soup out of the kitchen, the stork saw that it was in a shallow bowl!

روز عید فرا رسید و لک لک به خانه روباه رفت. روباه در کمال تعجب و ناامیدی گفت که نمی تواند آنطور که وعده داده بود یک جشن بزرگ درست کند و فقط کمی سوپ تعارف کرد. وقتی سوپ را از آشپزخانه بیرون آورد، لک لک دید که در یک کاسه کم عمق است!

The poor stork could not have any soup with its long bill, but the fox easily licked the soup from the plate. As the stork just touched the soup with the tip of its bill, the fox asked her, “How is the soup? Don’t you like it?”

لک لک بیچاره با اسکناس بلندش نمی توانست سوپی بخورد، اما روباه به راحتی سوپ را از بشقاب لیسید. در حالی که لک لک با نوک صورتحساب خود سوپ را لمس کرد، روباه از او پرسید: “سوپ چطور است؟ آیا آن را دوست نداری؟”

The hungry stork replied, “Oh it is good, but my stomach is upset, and I can’t take any more soup!”

لک لک گرسنه پاسخ داد: اوه خوب است، اما شکمم ناراحت است و دیگر نمی توانم سوپ بخورم!

“I’m sorry for troubling you,” said the fox.

روباه گفت: متاسفم که مزاحم شما شدم.

The stork replied, “Oh dear, please don’t say sorry. I have some health problem and cannot enjoy what you offer.”

لک لک پاسخ داد: “اوه عزیزم، لطفا متاسفم نگو. من مشکل سلامتی دارم و نمی توانم از چیزی که شما ارائه می دهید لذت ببرم.”

She left the place after thanking the fox, and inviting him to her house for dinner.

او پس از تشکر از روباه و دعوت او برای شام به خانه اش محل را ترک کرد.

Cunning Fox and the Clever Stork StoryThe day arrived and the fox reached the stork’s place. After exchanging pleasantries, the stork served soup for both of them, in a narrow jar with a long neck. She was able to have the soup very easily with her long bill, but the fox obviously could not.

روباه حیله گر و داستان لک لک باهوش روز فرا رسید و روباه به محل لک لک رسید. لک لک پس از تبادل نظر برای هر دو سوپ در یک کوزه باریک با گردن بلند سرو کرد. او می‌توانست به راحتی سوپ را با اسکناس بلندش بخورد، اما روباه آشکارا نمی‌توانست.

After finishing hers, the stork asked the fox if he was enjoying the soup. The fox remembered the feast he himself had given the stork, and felt very ashamed. He stammered, “I…I’d better leave now. I have a tummy ache.”

لک لک بعد از تمام شدن مال او از روباه پرسید که آیا از سوپ لذت می برد؟ روباه جشنی را که خودش به لک لک داده بود به یاد آورد و بسیار شرمنده شد. با لکنت گفت: من…بهتره الان برم.شکم درد دارم.

Humiliated, he left the place running.

با تحقیر، دوان دوان محل را ترک کرد.

Moral: One bad turn begets another.

اخلاق: یک چرخش بد باعث ایجاد دیگری می شود.
